Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers hypnotized the fans that came to the Gorge Amphitheatre for an evening of new and classic rock and roll.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are on tour to promote their new #1 Album “HYPNOTIC EYE”. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers kicked off the show with an outstanding version of The Byrds classic tune “So You Want To Be A Rock ‘N’ Roll Star. This band has made this song theirs, paying tribute to the 12-string Rickenbacker styling made famous by Roger McGuinn.

Throughout the evening’s performance, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers dazzled the audience playing such TP classics as “I Won’t Back Down”, “Free Fallin” and “Yer So Bad” to name just a few. New songs from the new album were highlighted as well. “American Dream Plan B”, “Shadow People” and “U Get Me High” fit right into their tight set. Another nice surprise was the cover performance of The Traveling Wilburys song “Tweeter and the Monkey Man”.

The crowd was on there feet the entire show and sang to every classic song, especially during “Learning To Fly” when Tom led the crowd into a sing-a-long euphoria. It’s the kind of experience that gives you the chills, when performer and adoring fans are all enjoying that special moment.

No fancy fireworks, just straightforward rock ‘n’ roll with a passion that makes for a concert where you can never get enough. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are truly one of America’s greatest rock bands with a loyal fan base that travels the country to see them.

Opening the show was none other than Steve Winwood, who on his own right is considered a true musical genius.
