The “Greatest Rock n’ Roll Band in the World’s” ninth studio album is a blistering return to their punk rock roots. Featuring 12 new soon-to-be Supersuckers classics, GET THE HELL is a tightly focused sonic assault of big riffs, catchy hooks and raw, balls-to-the-wall rock n’ roll.
In support of their latest collection, the Supersuckers will hit the U.S. portion of their tour in New Haven, CT on November 12th, with a month of shows before finishing just before the holidays with two northwest dates, December 12th in Portland Dante’s and on December 13th at Studio Seven in Seattle.
Recorded in Austin, TX at Willie Nelson’s famed Arlyn Studio, GET THE HELL carries the same attitude and energy that made the Supersuckers the heart-pounding, ear splitting rockers of the 90s. Their latest album was mixed by Dwarves leader Blag Dahlia and Andy Carpenter, assuring the kind of mix and music Supersuckers punk fans have been clamoring for. Singer Eddie Spaghetti leads off with “Get The Hell”, offering his road-weary words of wisdom while recent addition, drummer Captain Von Streicher (of Throw Rag fame) sets an alternate percussive pace. Spaghetti sings, “You wanna hear about the evil and the wicked things/I’d love to tell you, but I can’t because of what it brings”, before finishing in true Supersuckers form, “When you’re staring down the mouth of this unruly beast/You might crap your pants or wet ‘em at the very least.” The rest of GET THE HELL is filled with debauchery (“High Tonight”), excess on a biblical scale (“Gluttonous”), obsession (“Something About You”) and the trials and tribulations of being a total fuck up (“Fuck Up”).
Since their 1992 Sub Pop debut, the Supersuckers have toured relentlessly, sharing stages around the world with Social Distortion, Bad Religion, The Ramones, Motörhead, Flogging Molly, Butthole Surfers, Reverend Horton Heat, New York Dolls, The Dwarves, White Zombie and Nashville Pussy. They have also recorded with Steve Earle, Eddie Vedder, Kelley Deal (The Breeders) and Willie Nelson, who they also backed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
The Milwaukee Express proclaims “For a quarter-century, Arizona’s Supersuckers have served as punk’s answer to cowboy hat-wearing, meat-and-potatoes American rock ’n’ roll.” Adds The Argus Falls “the Supersuckers are still out there cranking out the big riffs that first made them famous in the ’90s. “Get the Hell,” released earlier this year, proves that even after 20 years of recording, the band still knows how kick out their patented “evil powers of rock ‘n’ roll,” to quote the title of one of their best songs.”
The Supersuckers are: Eddie Spaghetti on lead vocals/bass; Dan “Thunder” Bolton on guitar/vocals; “Metal” Marty Chandler on guitar/vocals; and “Captain” Chris VonStreicher on Drums.
