If you like supporting live local music and want to catch nearly everyone on the roster of one of the best record labels/musical cliques in the Pacific Northwest in one star-studded night of dancing and vibing-out, you owe it to yourself to come to the Holocene in Portland next month, when local collective STYLSS will be hosting a huge concert at the venue’s monthly bass music gathering, Verified. Dubbed the “STYLSS Takeover,” the lineup boasts some of the hottest names the record label has to offer, from Portland and all around the world.
STYLSS founder and Verified resident DJ Cory Haynes (aka QUARRY) has expressed his burning excitement for the takeover party. “We have Kooltrasher flying in from Paris, France for his PDX debut, Shmuck the Loyal flying in from Nashville, TN for his PDX debut, Echavox teleporting from Los Angeles, CA for his PDX debut, ONHELL riding the waves from Humbolt, CA, IG88 riding his bike from Seattle, and of course the Portland heavy-hitters, EASTGHOST, JVNITOR, Tyler Tastemaker, Gangsigns, and myself, QUARRY. It’s gonna be crazy, just like a family reunion, except with much better music; hope you can join us.”
With a night that includes formerly raved-about artists on our site IG88, who recently dropped a fantastic sophomore LP Hiding in My Hands, EASTGHOST, whose most recent album, Omniscient, They, not only received praise from several outlets including our own, but the album would later go on to make it to number 2 on our reviews editor’s top northwest albums of 2015, and Gangsigns, whose latest EP made it on our reviews editor’s Top 10 Pacific Northwest EPs of 2015 list, the night promises to be pretty stacked, and a breakthrough for both Verified and the STYLSS roster, as, though the label is native to Portland, many on the roster haven’t yet played PDX.
