Returning to her stomping grounds on tour in support of her new release I Remember You (With Love To Stan and Frank) Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley welcomes the “new first lady of jazz,” Grammy award-winning pianist and vocalist, Diane Schuur and her band!

I Remember You (With Love To Stan and Frank), released this June, is a stunning new recording where Schuur pays homage to two of her most important mentors – Stan Getz and Frank Sinatra – with 12 songs previously recorded by them. The release also commemorates her “official’ discovery 35 years ago by Stan Getz at the 1979 Monterey Jazz Festival. “The whole production is a winner!” – Audiophile Audition

Eclectic as she is brilliant, Schuur is a longtime disciple of Dinah Washington and other legendary jazz singers of the ‘40s and ‘50s. She’s built a stellar career by embracing not only the jazz of her parents’ generation, but also the pop music of her own youth during the late 1950s and ‘60s. In a recording career that spans nearly three decades – and includes two Grammy Awards and three Grammy nominations – Schuur’s music has explored nearly every corner of the 20th century American musical landscape.

A Tacoma native, Diane was blind from birth and armed with the gift of perfect pitch, the talented and effervescent singer has earned the admiration of many of jazz’s greatest musicians. ‘Diane’s got a great ear,” saxophonist David Sanborn told Mary Huzinec in People. “She’s a natural singer with an easy way of phrasing, in the tradition of the great song interpreters.” Fellow saxophone master Stan Getz concurred. “She can sing almost any style, from scat to country ballads that can tear your heart out,” he told Huzinec. “In my opinion, Diane’s got all the equipment to be one of the greats. She’s the logical successor to Ella and Sarah.”
